NATIONAL JOKE

To whom it may concern…
but probably doesn’t

We were asked to attend an environmental event this weekend at the National Aquarium. We went Thursday to meet with a representative of the aquarium. We did tell her we had live animals that we bring and she said “that was fine, just “NO selling”. She also told us if there was bad weather we could not bring them in, they were on their own. Oh, don’t forget the hand sanitizer! Which would have killed them resulting in a drastic drop in Ph and a spike in nitrates.
After setting up our display (which took over a half an hour) she told us we would have to leave. When we asked why she could not tell us other than the fact we had a “baby” nurse shark, what did she expect, goldfish? We told her we had sharks! Sharks or oysters, what’s the difference? Oysters were fine and they could stay? What, they are not considered an animal? Oysters have more rights than sharks!
We are called “SEA SAVE”, We are a company dedicated to the well being of all sea life on earth. We were there to get signatures to STOP the sale of sharks (that get 14 feet and 800 pounds) to pet stores. NOT ONE Aquarium in the U.S.A. take living donations and you can’t let them go into the wild. They ALL tell us to “KILL THEM”. From first hand knowledge, the aquariums order their fish from Dynasty Marine in Florida or Sea Dwelling Creatures in California (among others), that kills 3 out of 4 sharks or creatures they get in because they still after 40 years use copper, formaldehyde, methane blue, malachite green, which KILLS them. These are the so called experts? Experts in “Old School”!
The national aquarium should stand for the best in our nation, if this is the best our nation has to offer, the jokes on us… We in fact were the ONLY ones who were there NOT peddling life for money. We were just trying to make it better for all. Besides, if they would have given these poor sharks a good home to begin with, we would not have even had them, Ironic isn’t it. We asked them to HELP save another aquarium in the gulf, but they said they didn’t have enough room for what they DID have. They are just another business like everything else and nothing more, What a shame! Just another hypocrite turning up the fire on a dancing dolphin!
